OK, so now can we bomb their asses?
Dear Santa,
I was a good boy all day. Didn't say anything mean or nasty about anyone! Aren't you proud of me?

What's that? I'm supposed to be nice all year? Like hell I will! We're at war, damn it! No more mister nice guy. I'm ready to bomb their asses back to the stone age: U.S. Is Holding [Iranian Military Personel] Seized in Raids in Iraq
The American military is holding at least four Iranians in Iraq, including men the Bush administration called senior military officials, who were seized in a pair of raids late last week aimed at people suspected of conducting attacks on Iraqi security forces, according to senior Iraqi and American officials in Baghdad and Washington. . . .
Gordon D. Johndroe, the spokesman for the National Security Council, said two Iranian diplomats were among those initially detained in the raids. The two had papers showing that they were accredited to work in Iraq, and he said they were turned over to the Iraqi authorities and released. He confirmed that a group of other Iranians, including the military officials, remained in custody while an investigation continued, and he said, “We continue to work with the government of Iraq on the status of the detainees.” ...
Bomb bomb bomb. Bomb bomb Iran. Bomb bomb bomb. Bomb bomb Iran. Bomb I-ra-a-an. ...
Damn it to hell, people! Iran has been at war with the U.S. since 1979. They've been supplying jihadis in Iraq with weapons used to kill American G.I.s and now we've caught Iranian soldiers helping.

...our soldiers are still fighting in Iraq and around the world. And tonight, [12/24. See Santa? I waited.] what could be an important development, high-ranking Iranians have been detained in raids in Iraq: [...]
The story is complicated, and I'd suggest reading it all. Much is not yet known. But it appears that the long-festering problem of Iranian involvement not just in the "insurgency," but, worse yet, its entanglement with important Shia leaders in Iraq, may be coming to a head. That could be a good thing: The United States is now holding, apparently for the first time, Iranians who it suspects of planning attacks against both Iraqis and Americans. One senior administration official said, “This is going to be a tense but clarifying moment.”
The New York Times notes: American and Iraqi officials have long accused Iran of interfering in this country’s internal affairs, but have rarely produced evidence.
As you may recall, I have recommended that the White House start producing evidence of Iran's involvement in killing American soldiers, and then--more important--do something about it. This latest development appears to lend further support to that approach.

Cry me a damned river: U.S. arrest of Iranians reportedly upsets Iraqi president
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraqi and Iranian authorities slammed the United States on Monday for having arrested several Iranians who were visiting Iraq.
A U.S. official said the Iranians were suspected of involvement in attacks against Iraqi security forces.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini warned that "this action is not justifiable by any international rules or regulations and will have unpleasant consequences," Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency reported.
A spokesman for Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said Talabani had invited the Iranians to the country, and the president was "unhappy" about the arrests.
The U.S. National Security Council confirmed that the American military arrested at least four Iranians in raids during the past week in Iraq, including two diplomats.
NSC spokesman Gordon Johndroe said the two diplomats were questioned, turned over to the Iraqi government and released.
At least two others, who are members of the Iranian military, remain in U.S. military custody while an investigation is conducted on whether they were involved in attacks on security forces in Iraq, Johndroe said. ...
