LEAK: Draft of Bush Speech on Iraq ‘Way Forward’

(2007-01-07) — A draft copy of the speech President George Bush plans to deliver this week about “the new way forward” in Iraq has leaked to the media from a White House source who requested anonymity due to the unethical and treasonous nature of the leak.

In the text the president explains why he’s ordering an increase in U.S. troops in Iraq, rather than heeding the demands of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for implementing what the president calls “a strategic skedaddle.”

Portions of the speech text are excerpted here…

In your dreams, Scott. And mine.

To surge or not to surge?
Bryan Preston

Like Hamlet, President Bush is wrestling in public with a question best handled in private. Hamlet had his suicide soliloquy center stage, and Bush has his big war speech in which he’ll tell the whole world (including our enemies) what he plans to do to win in Iraq.

It’s not his fault, really, or at least it’s not entirely his fault. This is just how we fight wars now. It’s stupid, unserious and silly to put our war strategy out in a big public address for all the world to see, digest and critique until we’re all tired of hearing about it, but politically he has to put it out there, so he will. This is what comes of decades of undeclared wars and putting our fealty to the UN and Bush’s personal wish to satisfy everyone above anachronisms like national security and fighting wars to win them, no matter what the hard left says about it.

So here’s what the data and the times are telling me.  ...

Democrats Make Preparations for Iraqi Killing Fields
Gateway Pundit

What a difference one month makes...
December 8, 2006- Nancy Pelosi- "We won't cut off funding for the war."

January 7, 2007- Nancy Pelosi- "Funding the war is not an open-ended commitment anymore."

Not content with mass murder and genocide in Southeast Asia after America's cessation of aid behind a democratic Congress in the 1970's...

...Speaker Pelosi paved the way this morning for the next killing fields- This time in Iraq.

Nancy Pelosi announced today that democrats do not intend to fund the war in Iraq if they decide it is not worth it.

If this sounds familiar, democrats did the same thing years ago in Southeast Asia.
...It looks like democrats finally have their Vietnam!

CBS has the announcement by the Speaker on Face the Nation this morning.
My Lord!... Listen to this double-speak of Nancy Pelosi from the FTN transcript: ...
