Not All Exit Strategies Are Created Equal

From CNN: Bipartisan resolution opposes Bush plan on Iraq.

A bipartisan trio of senators on Wednesday unveiled a resolution opposing what Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton -- in proposing a separate bill -- called a "losing strategy" in Iraq. ...

The resolution is not expected to offer any alternative to Bush's plan to send 21,500 additional troops to Iraq for deployment primarily in Baghdad. ...

[House Minority Leader John] Boehner [R-Ohio] argued that the president's Iraq strategy deserves a full hearing and called on Democratic leaders who are criticizing it to offer their own plan.

"And for those who don't agree with the president's plan, what's their alternative, what's their plan?" he asked. "We have a new majority in the House and Senate, and I think that at some point they need to begin acting like a majority. And that means that if you don't approve of the president's idea and his plan, you're required, really, to put one forward. And we've not seen that yet." ...

The official Bill's Bites exit strategy (stolen from Blackfive):

***

Michelle was a little slow linking it but she likes the C&F cartoon too. I wonder what she think's of Blackfive's strategy.

The actual fact, of course, is that the Democrats are the only ones proposing serious strategies for Iraq. They are proposing plans that will allow us to withdraw while minimizing the violence that will occur in the wake of a withdrawal. The Republicans refuse to come up with a serious strategy, and instead are focusing on the idea that we can achieve "victory." Since no serious person thinks we can "win" in Iraq (unless you really think "winning" is defined as "propping up the pro-Iranian Islamist client state Bush has installed in place of the anti-Islamist dictator Saddam"), the Republicans are simply playing out childish fantasies while leaving the serious work to Democrats. This is why Democrats are serious on national security and (most) Republicans aren’t; Democrats are planning for what we need to do (leave) while Republicans are planning for something that can only happen in their stupid video-game fantasies (victory).

If you disagree with this, then where is your plan to minimize the damage when we have to withdraw. People like Murtha or Levin/Reed are planning for this; Bush is merely guaranteeing that when we do withdraw, it'll be in the hastiest and bloodiest way possible (because he's spending his time on the unserious crybaby fantasy that we can "win").

Here it is in a nutshell...

A republican and a democrat are walking down the sidewalk. Suddenly a Muslim terrorist shouts "Alahu Akbar!" and attacks them both. The republican jumps into action and starts fighting the terrorist. The democrat just stands there, yelling at the republican that he's doing it wrong. For four years. Eventually the democrat gets fed up with being ignored by the republican and starts restraining the republican from fighting the terrorist. Then, while the democrat pats himself on the back for his bold action, the terrorist kills them both.

O my, MA thinks we're not 'serious' because we actually think our troops should fight to win, and doesn't he have a nice straw man of what he claims is our definition of 'victory'?

Get real. Iraq is a pregame show. It ought to be viewed as the equivalent of a little light colonial policing while we get on with the task of defeating the Muslims who take the Koran seriously enough to kill infidels simply because they're infidels. The only reason we haven't completed the task is b/o the crybaby idiocy of leftists like MA. Here's the real question: what will we do after we're nuked? Ask the UN to save us? See what Jimmy Carter recommends?
Here's what we ought to have done already, in no particular order:
1. Expel from the US all Muslims who are not citizens, unless the fedral gov't determines that they are vital to the nation's interests
2. Declare that every nation who allows a substantial chunk of its citizens to teach their children to hate the US is at war with us. This will include every majority Muslim nation plus NK at minimum.
3. Give said nations 2 weeks to fix it or surrender. Since fixing it will require them to give up the Koran, which teaches violence against infidels, one doubts they'll fix it.
4. When they don't fix it or surrender, give them ample notice to evacuate their capitol cities. Then nuke one.
5. Once they surrender (which will take one, maybe 2 nukes; it took 2 with the Japanese, but they had that whole death-before-surrender bit; Muslims and Commies respect strength), send in Jr High principals and county execs to reform their schools and governments like MacArthur did for the Japanese. Give them a decent constitutional republic. Abolish Islam.

Will we have the will to do this after we're nuked? Or is it already too late to save the West? Stay tuned.
