The Ron Paul Circus
Posted by Curt

I was trying to decide what Ron Paul and his minions remind me of and it just suddenly hit me.  The militant anti-government types.  The Randy Weavers, McVeigh's, and others who would just as much like to hide in the hills waiting for the anarchy to hit and the return to "true government".

They are so far right they have almost come full circle and now support lefties ideals such as the Truther madness: (h/t Michelle Malkin)

Transcript via Michelle again:

Student: ...we've heard that you have questioned the government's official account.

Paul: Well, I never automatically trust anything the government does when they do an investigation because too often I think there's an area that the government covered up, whether it's the Kennedy assassination or whatever.

[...]Student: So I just wanted to say, you know, we've talked to Dennis Kucinich and he says that he's willing to, you know, investigate it. He would advocate for a new investigation.

Paul: Into 9/11?

Student: Yeah, into 9/11. I mean, if it was Dennis Kucinich and you, there'd be congressional support. You know what I mean? So you wouldn't be the only one.

Paul: It'd be bipartisan, too. And I've worked with Dennis a lot on a lot of these issues.

Student: So I mean, would you advocate for a new investigation into 9/11?

Paul: Yes, I think we have to look at the details of it.

And then the coup de grace, the endorsement of the Truther movement for Ron Paul:  ...

Kick Dr. Ron Paul to the curb
Don Surber

My reaction to the Republican debate on Tuesday was simple: “Ron Paul, the Republican Kucinich.” All I knew about this loon was he ran for president as a Libertarian in 1988 and that he has a bunch of people who are organized enough to skew an online poll.

Kucinich, I know. Voted against him in 1979. He’s a harmless populist who is helping push the Democratic Party off the ledge.

But Dr. Paul is already off that ledge.

Michelle Malkin has a video of this goofball congressman meeting with “Student Scholars for 9/11 Truth.” The video needs the “Theme from Twilight Zone” to bring out its other-worldliness.After the pedestrian speech laced with anti-government paranoia, the congressman mixes with the impressionable students. Via Malkin:

[...]

Goodness, Trey Parker has a tough job parodying this lunacy on “South Park.” Parker pretty much nailed it: The Troofers believe the government is so competent that it could stage an attack of this magnitude and fool everyone.

Why do Republicans include Ron Paul in their debates? He has the right to run for president under any banner he wants. But other than serving as a punching bag for Giuliani, Dr. Ron Paul has no purpose. None. ...

Mayor Giuliani is given a history lesson by Ron Paul, and posthumously too by Eisenhower's Secretary of agriculture, Ezra Taft Benson, along with Dr. W. Cleon Skousen, bestselling author of the Naked Communist and The Naked Capitalist. Perhaps that history lesson could be used here as well?

Or maybe you and Dr Paul just need to pull your heads out of your asses so your brains can get some oxygen. Anyone who tries to blame 9/11 on the U.S. isn't worth pissing on if his head was on fire.
