2008.02.09 Politics and National Defense Roundup

Anyone who's been reading this site for long enough knows I jumped on the Fred Thompson bandwagon before it ever got rolling; I still think he'd make the best President of anyone who was in the running a year ago and I was very disappointed when he didn't have enough fight in him to make a serious run for the job. After he withdrew from the race I thought for a while I wanted to see Mitt Romney win, then switched my allegiance to John McCain shortly before Super Tuesday. McCain's not perfect, but if he has Fred's vote, which he does, he definitely has mine. The question we each have to answer between now and November is whether to vote for a candidate who isn't quite perfect but at least understands we're at war, or whether to sit back and pout and hand the election to someone who'll surrender in the Mideast and then be caught totally be surprise when the jihadis follow us home. For me that's not a tough decision.
