Walter Cronkite: Still stuck on stupid
Austin Bay has more here. The part that Michelle and Austin didn't mention is that the '68 Tet offensive was a major military defeat for the Viet Cong, not for the South or for the US. With the VC beaten and broken after the offensive, the North Vietnamese would have abandoned their hopes of conquering the south if not for the assistance they got from Walter Cronkite, John Kerry, Jane Fonda and others of their pathetic ilk. Walter Cronkite has the blood of thousands of American soldiers, and even more Vietnamese, on his hands and he still isn't smart enough after all of these years to feel any remorse. If not for the fact that George Bush is too smart to listen to him he'd apparently be more than happy to add the deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqis to his bloody scorecard. A question for Pat Robertson: Why would the vengeful God you seem to believe in strike down a good man like Ariel Sharon and let scum like Cronkite continue to torment us for so many years? *** 2005.01.16 Update: Don't miss Dafydd's excellent essay on Cronkite. |
