Bush Defends UAE Port Takeover Despite Mounting Opposition
Michelle Malkin has been staying right on top of the matter. Click here, here, here, and here. Uncle Jimbo and some of his commenters think we should just chill and trust W on this. Click here. Personally, I'd be a lot more inclined to trust W about something like this if he'd wake up and get serious about enforcing our borders. Dafydd ab Hugh has an interesting compromise proposal here. More at Flopping Aces and Media Lies. I'll admit to being more than a little confused, at this point. My initial reaction to the idea of a foreign company running our ports was very negative, but I find that puts me at odds with some people for whom I have a great deal of respect. (On the other hand, Jimmy Carter is in favor of the deal ...) I'd rather see an American company in control of all of our ports, but short of Dafydd's proposal to create a company for that purpose (the phrase "Post Office" comes to mind) that simply isn't in the cards. Color me undecided at this point. *** Color Andrew Cochran very opposed. |
