All Gave Some, Some Gave All
The pictures are from the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. I stopped by to say a short prayer and shed a few tears on my way home from my last VA appointment. I heard Taps and rifle salutes from three different directions in the short time I was there; not all for KIAs of course, but all for someone who'd served our nation at one time or another. And yes, grown men do cry. There are so many great Memorial Day posts on so many great blogs, with more to come I'm sure, that there's no way I can even get a good start on linking to all of them, but I'll try to get links up to some of the better ones I see as the day goes on. I'll also keep on blogging through the day about issues of importance to the nation our veterans fought and died for. Our troops in the sandbox don't have the day off; why should I? *** DO NOT miss John Donovan's series here, here and here. *** Also don't miss today's Vent. John Donovan has a series of excellent posts. Click here and keep scrolling. *** Sorry all. This is as far as I got before a little bitty storm with a real bad attitude knocked out power to this area for 7+ hours. I'll have more to say on that in a later post. |
